To engage in the sublimation of life and death, painting became Erica Hsu’s approach to have a glance at the view of a higher level of spirituality and divinity. From different perspectives, her works depict a solemn atmosphere with a rigorous and shadowy visual vocabulary, composing architectural elements into the imagery of the twisted combination of the body with the decoration of a Baroque style cathedral or church.

Based on the ambition of searching for the meaning of life, she brings the inspiration of religion and the images of human adventure to outer space as references to those artistic creations, showing her interest in the course of human beings exploring the width of life constantly. Yearning for the spiritual and actual searching journey of the unknown, her works not only lead audiences into the worship place but build a spiritual space for them to raise their awareness to perceive their interior voices.
